Navigating Change Together

Therapy for Neurodivergent and Queer adults seeking to navigate change through intention, reflection, and learning to feel.

House of Joy provides understanding and tools to find peace in mind and body. People who seek my services have not had the space or guidance to explore the complexity of their identity, which often leads to feelings of worry and confusion. The approach used at the House of Joy helps people reconnect to their unique inner landscape through exploration of the mind & body connection.

When we are resourced to take care of our own feelings we improve in our skills to better take care of one another.

The Approach…

It is my job to create a space where growth can take place. In the start of treatment, much of the work is focused on the development of a trusting relationship that opens up a dialogue for honesty. Honesty allows my clients to share with me in a way that feels genuine and honesty allows me to give real feedback and reframes in service of a client’s insight development. We’ll examine your developmental experiences including traumas and attachment relationships, as well as your current relationship and frame of mind. In our work together you can expect to begin to heal and accept the past, envision and move toward your future, all while gaining tools to stay embodied in the present.

The techniques I use include:

  • listening to you

  • assessing your circumstances, feelings, and experiences

  • helping you to build tools to connect to your body’s wisdom

  • engaging goal oriented envisioning

This approach explores your past experiences to understand how they influence who you are today. We'll explore how your body carries your experience and shapes how you show up in the world, as well as how your mindset impacts your decision making. We'll create a plan to take targeted steps toward the future you desire.

Sessions are provided via video telehealth on a HIPAA complaint platform.

People who seek my services are…

  • Neurodivergent

Thinking differently may leave you feeling misunderstood, confused, or outside of “normal”. In my work, I seek to understand your barriers to success and work to find sustainable and accessible solutions.

  • Exploring the Mind Body Connection

Our bodies are the gateway to a deep and rich connection to our own inner world. Much of our experience and social conditioning take us out of our embodied experience. In my work I help people reconnect to their inner landscape through somatic connection.

  • LGBTQIA+

Identity affirmation is key to the development of long term wellbeing. I provide a safe space to explore, discuss and question what is coming up for you as you unfold your relationship to self and sexual and gender identity.

Meet Erin…

Our lives require complicated navigation. The ambiguity of change keeps us clinging to the past, and trying to control the future. This disequilibrium pulls us away from our present self in an effort to escape. People who seek Erin’s help are generally coping with trauma or loss, facing challenges with identity, or are struggling to find a balance within their lives. The wisdom of the Yijing and Octavia E. Butler will have us know, “the only lasting truth is change.”

Our ages and stages bring new wisdom and challenge. Erin believes we are, as Ram Daas shared, “walking each other home” and they believe in the power of community for collective healing.

Erin is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Colorado. They have worked in human services for over 20 years and have been practicing clinically since 2009. They received their Master of Social Work degree from New York University and Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. They have worked with people throughout the lifespan, in both rural and urban settings. Erin enjoys contributing to their community and has lead the start up of several non-profit organizations. Erin practices martial arts and yoga, and is deeply committed to self care through spiritual and emotional awareness and intention.
